Connections
CollaborationConnections on Deaku work similarly to a professional network but for the creator economy - they let you build a trusted circle of creators and collaborators to learn and grow with! Being connected with someone unlocks direct messaging, proposal sending (regardless of their proposal settings), and the ability to share workspace items with them without being in the same workspace.
Sending a connection request
Visit any creator's profile and tap or click the Connect button (a person icon with a plus). A connection request is sent and the other person is notified.
You can send up to 20 connection requests per day.
Once sent, your request shows as Request Pending on that profile until the other person responds. You can see all your outbound pending requests in the Connections view under Sent Requests.
Responding to a request
When someone sends you a connection request, you'll receive an in-app notification. You can also find all pending requests at the top of the Connections view under Pending Requests.
From there you can:
- Accept - Tap the green Accept button. You both become connected and the sender is notified.
- Decline - Tap the red Decline button. The request is removed quietly with no notification to the sender.
Viewing your connections
Open the Connections view to see everyone you're connected with displayed as cards, showing their avatar, display name, and username.
Tap or click any connection card to open their full profile.
Removing a connection
On a connected person's profile, click the green connected icon (it shows Remove Connection when you hover over it), then confirm. This immediately ends the connection for both of you. The other person is not notified.
Why connections matter
Being connected with someone on Deaku enables a few things that wouldn't otherwise be available:
- Direct messaging - You can message your connections from the community chat view, and when sharing items externally you can send them directly via DM. You can also message people who share a workspace with you, or who have turned on Direct Messages in their privacy settings, without being connected.
- Proposals - You can always send a proposal to a connection, even if they've turned off open proposals in their settings.
- External sharing - When sharing a workspace video, image, or canvas, your connections appear in the External tab of the share modal so you can notify or DM them directly.
