Deaku Assistant
Assistant & AgentThe Deaku Assistant is your AI co-pilot. It’s designed to enhance - not replace - your creativity and workflow. With an understanding of content strategy and awareness of your workspace’s unique context, it provides you personalised, actionable support.
It will never generate video or audio content, as we believe in keeping creativity human and helping creators earn more.
Deaku Assistant is included with every plan. On Pro, you get more usage, and can also switch on Deaku Agent to take action in your workspace for you, or connect your own AI app with Deaku MCP - see below.

How can I use Deaku Assistant?
You can access the assistant across several parts of Deaku:
- Right sidebar
- The Assistant lives in the right sidebar, on every page. On phones and tablets, tap the Deaku Assistant icon in the toolbar.
- Start new conversations, attach images (up to 4 per message), record a voice note, and @mention workspace content.
- Each conversation is saved as its own chat - click the clock icon to find previous chats.
- Click Open in full view for a full-page chat, or Open in canvas on any reply to turn it into a canvas.
- See The Right Sidebar for more.
- Canvases
- Click the Deaku Assistant icon in the toolbar (or press Ctrl + K) to prompt it via the “Ask Deaku Assistant anything…” box.
- Highlight text and choose AI Edit to rewrite a specific section. The new text replaces your selection straight away - press Undo if you'd like it back.
- Video Review
- On the review screen of a vertical video, click Retention Potential in the Comments header.
- The Assistant watches and listens to your video, then gives you a Retention Potential Analysis - a heatmap of likely drop-off points, plus timestamped comments - within minutes.
⚠️ Note: Retention Potential is currently only available for vertical (portrait) videos. Reviews have their own usage limit, shown when you hover over the button.
How does the Deaku assistant work?
- It has the knowledge of our video production, content strategy and educational resources we have built in our over 15 years of experience in the creator economy.
- It reads the Deaku Help Centre, so it can explain how any part of Deaku works.
- It has context-awareness of your specific workspace:
- This means it can reference your Projects, Media, Canvases, content strategy and other workspace data.
- Each workspace has its own context. If you’re part of multiple workspaces, the Assistant will provide different insights in each.
- Your workspace context is private - no other users or workspaces have access to it.
- It has a memory. It can remember useful things about you - like your niche or how you like feedback - and uses them in every workspace. Only you can see them, and you can delete any of them in Account Settings → Deaku Assistant → Memory.
- It can look at your thumbnails. Ask what it thinks of a video's or project's thumbnail options, or to compare them.
- It reads but doesn't change your workspace. To have AI create and update projects, tasks and canvases for you, use Deaku Agent.
Videos and indexing
How to let Deaku Assistant watch your footage, then ask it questions about your videos. Watch the tutorial (1:29)
To talk about what happens inside a video, the Assistant first needs to index it - reading its transcript, chapters and visuals.
- Click Index with Deaku Assistant on the video's review screen, or @mention a video and the Assistant will offer to index it.
- Indexing uses some of your daily allowance.
- To index new uploads automatically, turn on Index new videos automatically in Account Settings → Deaku Assistant.
Usage
Deaku Assistant has a daily allowance. The ring at the top of the chat shows how much you've used today - hover over it to see when it resets. Pro plans get more usage.
Using @mentions with the Assistant
You can pull specific workspace assets directly into your conversation with the Assistant using @mentions. This gives the Assistant precise context rather than relying on broad workspace awareness.
How to trigger the mention menu:
Type @ anywhere in the Assistant input box. A dropdown menu will appear showing your workspace content organised by category.
What you can mention:
| Category | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Users | Workspace members |
| Canvases | Workspace and channel canvases |
| Media | Uploaded images and videos |
| Projects | Workspace projects |
Navigating the mention menu:
The menu opens in a default view showing all category headers, with your most recently modified items shown below as quick picks.
- Type to search — start typing after @ to filter results across all categories instantly.
- Browse a category — click a category header, or press → to drill in and see the full list for that category. Press ← or click the back button to return.
- Keyboard navigation — use ↑ / ↓ to move through items, Enter or Tab to select.
- Dismiss — press Escape to close the menu without selecting.
After selecting a mention:
The item appears as a chip in your message, right where you typed @. To remove it, press Backspace. When you send your message, the mentioned assets are passed to the Assistant as structured context.
Want Deaku to do the work for you?
The Assistant thinks with you - it answers, reviews and drafts. When you want something done, not just discussed, there are two Pro options:
- Deaku Agent - switch the Assistant chat to Agent mode and it can create and update projects, tasks, canvases and events, and message your team. It runs on your own Anthropic, OpenAI or Google API key. See Deaku Agent.
- Deaku MCP - connect an AI app you already use, like Cursor or Claude Code, directly to your workspace. See Deaku MCP.
